Insulation is not only about keeping your house warm in winter, it’s also about keeping your house cool in the summer, reducing energy consumption, and avoiding damaging attic condensation. Along with proper ventilation, a well insulated attic space increases the comfort and functionality of your home, so it is worth looking at.

The Alberta Building Code requires attics have an insulation rating of R-34; however, many older houses that are insulated with batt insulation, wood shavings, or recycled paper do not even have half of that. If you have noticed your older home gets too hot in the summer and your heating bill is too high in the winter, it may be time to have your attic insulation topped up.
